Group Details

What is Dramatherapy?

Dramatherapy is a type of psychotherapy and is one of the Creative Arts Therapies. Dramatherapy aims to promote psychological healing and growth through working within creative expression and metaphor.

Drama therapists are educated to a postgraduate standard holding a master’s degree and are all registered with the Health and Care Professions Council. Drama therapist use the medium of drama and role playing so clients can practice using different roles through stories and metaphor, it is safely managed and allows for an alternative outlet of emotions. Drama therapist can also use objects, sensory material and artwork as a method of projective play, where the client unconsciously projects feelings and emotions onto external objects, providing some distance and making those feelings easier to manage.

What will the group offer?

Being joining the creative expression group therapy, you will be entering a safe confidential space with others to creatively explore difficult feelings assisting in building problem solving skills and emotional resilience.
