About me:
My name is Gemma, I am a counselling student in my professional year of study at Newcastle College University Centre. Having worked in Finance for many years, I decided to embark on a different career path and began the training process to become a qualified counsellor in 2022. I am training predominantly in a person-centred approach, which means building a trusting, therapeutic relationship to enable clients to explore thoughts, beliefs and feelings in a safe and supportive environment. I am also able to work integratively, drawing on other counselling modalities to create a tailored approach to best meet the needs of each individual client.
Specialist interest and/or experience:

I work with children, teens and adults and have an interest in working with trauma, attachment and neurodiversity.

Breaking down stigma around mental health. Increasing awareness of the mental health struggles children and young adults may face by advocating for better mental health services and providing early interventions.
