I left teaching to pursue a career in counselling where I can work with individuals which is something I have always enjoyed.  My life experiences have given me many difficulties to deal with but celebrations too.  My experiences have fostered in me a desire to be someone who can offer support when others are experiencing difficulties; this enables the individual to work through their issues and grow as a person able to cope and become more resilient.

I have experience opportunities to work with primary and secondary school children as well as adults.  Presenting issues cover a range of issues from anxiety, low mood, depression and bullying to name but a few.  Having enjoyed training in the Person-Centred modality I have learned that this is not necessarily the main modality I use used and I find that I have developed an integrative style tailored to the individuals’ needs.

I have studied the Person-Centred approach advocated by Carl Rogers.  Carl Roger’s belief was that an empathic stance can provide healing.  A deep understanding is the most precious gift one can give to another.  This outlook resonates with me.  I feel that I can offer a safe environment where clients can explore their issues, feelings, life’s stresses and difficult situations.  I am approachable and warm and consider that the therapeutic relationship is most important thing to enable change and growth.  I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and I adhere to their ethical framework which ensures that both the client and the counsellor are kept safe.
