If you are passionate about offering either short or long term mental health support to a wide range of diverse clients within the community, then we would love to hear from you.

Here at Next Step, we support students to work within their training approach and modality. This provides the perfect opportunity for you to develop your practice and experience, whilst also working towards BACP, UKCP, NCS full qualification as a counsellor, psychotherapist, child therapist or relationship therapist. We invest in training and support your growth,

What we offer:

  • Complete training

  • Free supervision and also have a Lead Mentor either in school or in house.

  • On-going CPD throughout the year free for all placements

  • Comprehensive support

  • DBS checks free of charge if you need them before starting.

Important Before you apply:

  • All applicants must be approved as ready to practice and have counselling or psychotherapeutic student membership.

  • You will need to commit for a full academic year. Sept 24 - July 25.

  • The first 3 months of placement will be considered a probation period.

  • If you meet our criteria we may invite you to attend an interview.

  • If successful, you will receive an offer of placement, usual start dates are September

  • Please note that you will need an enhanced DBS, which we can coordinate for you if required.

  • Must be able to fulfil any of the placements secifications you have applied for.

You must be able to make the following training dates, 100% attendance required:

​

Friday 19th July 2024 -  (9:30am - 1:30pm) - Day 1  with Lyndsey Waugh - Introductions to Next Step & Safeguard Training

Friday 26th July 2024 - (9:30am - 4:30pm)  - Day 2  with Tracy Anderson

Friday 2nd August 2024 - (9:30am - 4:30pm)  Day 3 Training -  With Tracy Anderson and Bernie McAloon  also including Sand Tray work and Creative Arts

Ready to APPLY?

We have have 3-4 placement slots this year only.

x 1  Space -   Duel Placement - In a primary school  in North Tyneside on Tuesday mornings (usually but not exact 8:30 - 12:30) , then in the evening at our Gosforth Clinic on Tuesdays at 4:30pm - 8:30pm. No child experience necessary but you must show an interest in working with children.

  x1  Space - Duel Placement - In a primary school in North Tyneside on Thursday mornings (usually but not exact 8:30 - 12:30) , then in the evening at our Gosforth Clinic on Wednesdays at 4:30pm - 8:30pm. No child experience necessary but you must show an interest in working with children. 

 

       x 1 possibility 2 spaces - Gosforth Clinic - Wednesdays at 2:00pm - 8:30pm. (5 Clinical hours dependent). Must have a mental health background or something similar. Would be beneficial if you had child experience or an interest in working with children but not essential.
