Daniel Crump
QUALIFIED THERAPIST:
WORKS WITH ADULTS

About me:
Hello! My name is Daniel and I have been qualified as a An Integrative Relational Counsellor since 2021. Working as an Integrative Counsellor allows me to utilise aspects of a wide variety of therapeutic modalities whilst primarily focusing on building the best working relationship possible with each client. I believe everyone who comes to therapy is on their own unique journey of change, and nothing is more transformative than a solid working alliance built on trust, empathy and unconditional positive regard. For me, working with clients means meeting them where they’re at. Whether your goals are to uncover the origins of your presenting issues, use therapy as a way to offload and be heard, or to build up a toolbox of skills to navigate life more effectively, I am here to support you.
From a young age I have been fascinated with the human condition and have completed Masters Degrees in both Philosophy and Socio-Cultural Issues, with a particular interest in Existentialist Philosophy - asking the big questions of who we are, how we should act and how to understand our place in the world.
Specialist interest and/or experience:
I am particularly interested in utilising psychodynamic therapy to support my clients, meaning I place a strong emphasis on analysing early childhood experiences. My recent professional development research has allowed me to explore the nature of human relationships and how we form connections with each other. I am deeply interested in how Attachment Theory can help us to understand our approach to relationships and teaches us how we can develop a secure attachment style.
Clinical experience:
I have over 5 years of experience working with clients, primarily as part of my private practice. I have also worked with various mental health charities and organisations, delivering short-term humanistic therapy to adult clients.

I have also been able to support those in crisis, having worked as part of a crisis support line, offering ‘in the moment’ calming techniques as well as conducting risk assessments to ensure callers were kept safe from harm.
Clinical approaches:
Being trained as an Integrative Counsellor, I am able to draw on a variety of clinical approaches, however my main areas of expertise lie in CBT and Psychodynamic Therapy. I use CBT as a way to help people challenge their unhelpful thought and behavioural patterns and gain more control over their day to day wellbeing. Psychodynamic Therapy also allows me to support clients in navigating their early life experiences, making sense of where these patterns initially emerged. I am also keen to employ other modalities where appropriate including Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) and Transactional Analysis (TA).

What are you passionate about:
As someone who has recently discovered they are neuro-diverse, a lot of my recent passion has stemmed from advocating for equality and acceptance of people whose brains are wired a little differently. I believe mental health awareness, particularly amongst the neuro-diverse community should be promoted in every workplace across the country.
